Les Koulangos constituent un peuple du nord-est de la Côte d'Ivoire, autour des villes de Bouna et de Bondoukou et notamment dans le Parc national de la Comoé.

La statuaire en Afrique sert très souvent à entrer en contact avec les défunts ou les ancêtres. Cette sttaue représente un ancètre.

- les proportions du corps sont proches de celles des ancêtres Baoulé (jambes courtes, bras le long du corps, proportions de la tête importantes par rapport au reste du corps, importance du nombril)

- les ajouts de kaolin (argile blanche) et d'indigo (pigment bleu) sont caractéristiques.

- la position des mains est typique des représentations koulango.
